*I would love to hear feedback from anyone who reads this*
Part of the reason I haven’t been online as much lately is because my Facebook was disabled, for a 2nd time! Here are all the details so far…

Dear Facebook,
Apparently my account was disabled, seemingly because your organization seems to believe I have registered with a fake name. I have not. And this is the 2nd time I have had to deal w/this issue. I would like my account restored and would like not to have to deal with this in the future. Please & thank you.

I got your notice that you got my email; stating my issue would be dealt with shortly. However, I expected at least a secondary response by now. Even though I know I have adhere fully to the user agreement, I went through it last night to humor myself. I’m afraid I can’t seem to find any stipulation that I’ve broken. Which is why I assume that this issue of my account being restricted stems from someone thinking I have registered under a fake name. I amuse this, because the last time this happened, that was the reason sighted. I proved my identity last time and would be more than happy to do so again (I would also be more than happy to share said e-mail transcripts from last time). However, and I really don’t mean to be pushy, but practically my entire network is connected to my Facebook profile and at the moment this issue is really hindering business that I really do need to be conducting. So if it’s at all possible, could this issue possibly be resolved soon, or at the very least could you send me some sort of none-computer-generated response?
Sincerely,
Dark Angel

To: sonicthequick@gmail.comHi,
Fake names are a violation of our Terms of Use. Facebook requires users to provide their full first and last names (i.e. no initials). Nicknames can be used in the form of FirstName ‘NickName’ LastName, but only if they are a variation on your real first or last name, such as ‘Bob’ instead of ‘Robert’. Additionally, please note that impersonating anyone or anything is prohibited.
If you would like to use this profile again, just get back to us with your real name, and we will reactivate the account for you.
Thanks for your understanding,
Johanna

To: The Facebook TeamDear Facebook,
Please read the following:
“Dear Facebook Corp.,
I understand the terms of Facebook, and I know this sounds like a prank, but my name really is Dark Angel. I did have it legally changed to that, and I’m not lying. I would like very much to have my Facebook account back, because I’ve been using it quite regularly to network with various classmates and friends. Kinda puts a strain on the relationship(s) now that it’s gone, I asking the only way I know how here. This isn’t some prank, please let me Facebook again. This is a copy of my offical court order to change my name as well as my college ID. These were not fabricated (although the court order has been altered to hide my birth name). This is all the proof I can supply, again, this is not some prank. If you’d like I could give you the address of my college so they could confirm for you guys that a”Dark Angel” ( i.e. me) does exist, and does attend their/my school. Or I could get a list of Facebook users that will vouch on my behalf to prove my story valid. Whatever it takes. But again, I’m not pulling a prank and would very much like to have my account back, please.
Again, THIS ISN’T A JOKE,
Dark Angel”Look familiar? It should. This e-mail was sent to you guys almost 2 and a 1/2 years ago on 11/20/06. And after I provided said proof about my name my account was reinstated. Now that said, you’ll have to forgive for sounding a little rude and just a little irritated when I ask, what the $%&^ happened this time guys?! I figured my info is/would be kept up to date (considering I’m registered w/your site!) & since we’ve already had this talk, I can’t fathom why I am here having it again. So when my account is reactivated this time, I’d really like to know, if it’s not too much trouble, what (if anything) can Facebook do to reassure me that this will not happen again?! Because not only is this a horrible way to service your members, but let’s say there was some emergency in which I had no option but to use your site to access my network? If that were the case, I’d be totally screwed. So what say you? Can you guys finally fix this fumble and give me any type of reassurance I won’t have to deal with this absolutely &%$^^&*@ inconvience anymore?
Sincerely,

To: The Facebook TeamMe again. Not trying to be pushy or rude or anything, but am I going to get some sort of answer soon? I’ve proven my identity, is there any other reason my account is still being restricted? Do you require more proof, or a different type? Is there any reason this issue is taking so long to resolve?

To: The Facebook TeamDear Facebook,
It’s been almost 2 weeks now & my account is still disabled, despite the fact that I have asked for the decision to be reversed, have shown proof of my real, legal name (by providing a college I.D. & a copy of my official name change(with my birth name photoshoped out to respect my privacy). have offered to supply more identification as needed to prove my existence, and even brought forth a transcript from the first time this has happened.
And yet despite all of this evidence and and cooperation on my part, it still took an entire week for a customer service rep to tell me I can’t register with a fake name.
So if we’ve established that my name is Dark Angel (which it really is), and I am more than willing and able to provide more proof to prove that if need be, and I have mutliple witnesses that can confirm my identity, and I’m not violating any other ‘Terms of Use’, why is my account still disabled?
Futhermore, can Facebook provide me with any sort of promise, gaurentee,…I don’t know….cyber-pass that will ensure this won’t happen again? Because I find it quite ridiculous that I have to go through this for a second time as it is? Is this how you treat everyone who uses Facebook. Additionally, how do you determine what is or isn’t a real profile or not? I see tons of imaginary characters that haven’t been banned from the site, yet my account is disabled. That makes no sense to me whatsoever.
I can’t imagine how busy things must be at the Facebook office, and I don’t mean to waste anyone’s time, but I would really like it if this issue could be resolved as swiftly as possible.
And still no word from everyone’s favorite social networking giant. Turns out I’m not the only one either. go ahead, google search, twitter it. The complaints are out there. And recently (early ’09) there seems to be this surge of it-it was really bad in ’07.
I’m going to send a copy of this transcript to Facebook again, and if this keeps up, I think I will try to pursue legal action, or at least get this story on CNN or something. This isn’t right and something needs to e done.
EDIT 5/1/09 – So I’ve e-mailed all the Facebook customer service departments & CNN. (Read More)
