You ever had an issue that you just can’t put to rest? Like whether Pluto is a planet or not? Or whether to side with pirates or ninjas? Or how to dispose of your arch-nemesis after they tried to blow up your home, only hours after escaping a trap you had gun-toting, ninja henchmen & sultry temptettes lure them into in the 1st place?

…Not that I would know anything about that…

No, it seems some things just won’t die no matter how much you talk about them or how they’re dealt with. My rant in particular is in reference to the Anime Industry. Before I get into why, a quick refresher for those who lost interest forgot about the issue in general.

State Of The Anime Industry-The Basics/The Decline

-Newtype Crumbles
-Geneon Falls
-“The Fansub War”
-Toonami Dies -The Darkest Day In Anime History-
-[Now] EVERYONE wants to save the industry
-Behold our Messiah! FUNimation has secured our future!
-Sci-fi Channel pierces the heavens!
-Wait! What?! FUNi’s in trouble?! But Crunchyroll’s on the case?!
-Everyone and their grandmother has a Twitter or Youtube

All caught up now? Good.

So yea, after the last year or so, I thought the anime industry, as a whole, was done trying everything it had planned to stabilize itself. Would I have liked to see more, yes, but this industry isn’t exactly the fastest when it comes to reacting to fan demand in a timely manner. Something I hate, but accept nonetheless. But recently (and by recently I mean the last couple of weeks) I’ve noticed the core issue has been getting a fair amount of press that includes status reports, views from both sides of the Pacific, finger-pointing, and ideas to innovate and re-invigorate the industry. Now I’ve no type of professional association with the anime industry, so I’m not really “in the know” as it were, but as far as I can tell, all this talk about new ideas and revamping is relatively under the radar at the moment, so I thought I’d take it upon myself to put together some commentary surrounding it, because when the industry does start making some of the big moves everyone’s whispering about, I’d like to be there when it happens. So check back every few weeks or so and I’ll try to have a new article linked to this page about the anime industry’s progress during the recession.
