The last few days have been such a relief. So much of the stress I’d retained the last few months has finally evaporated. Why? Because I FINALLY got my Facebook back! After almost 2 in a half months of emails, videos, petitions, and anything else I could pull, I finally got my Facebook back. But like everything else in the life of D-2-da-A, this conclusion has only left more questions. Namely?
HOW?

As you can see by the email, someone clearly had a facepalm moment & decided to correct the error of FB’s evil ways. But there in lies the mystery, there’s no explanation as to why the decision was reversed. Now, to understand where I’m going with this, I’ve got to lay down some context. Now, I’m plenty pumped to have my Facebook back, in fact I think it’s a little f***ing overdue all things considered. But I 1) have a ton of friends who’re asking how I got my account back whom I don’t really have any answers for & 2) promised countless others [who have similar stories to mine] that if I ever found a way to get my account back, I share the secret. Trying to deduct a reason from any number of the avenues I pursued leads one to any number of possibilities.
-There’s all the blogging I did about my ordeal
-There’s the video I uploaded to inform my friends and plead my case
-There’s the group my friend started to petition my return to Facebook
-There’s the 15 or so e-mails I sent Facebook demanding an a swift answer (which I never got)
-There’s the tweets I put up and responded to on Twitter (you’d be surprised who reads those)
-There’s the investigation that I asked consumerist.com to jump into(Well it was nice of them to at least volunteer to look into the case…)
-There’s the unlikely possibility that it actually took Facebook 2 1/2 months to review and resolve my account (or at least I’d like to hope it’s unlikely; I’d like to hope that it really didn’t take 2 1/2 months to look over a review what is essentailly the same can of worms they opened up over 2 1/2 years ago…)
-Lastly, there’s the really stern letter I wrote & physically mailed to Facebook. This letter was accompanied by photocopies of 2 college IDs, my license, an old bank statement (from a closed account), my legal name change form (with my birthname whited-out) & all the e-mails we’d exchanged on the issue.
That address by the way, Facebook, 156 University Ave., Palo Alto, CA 94301-1605
You’re welcome.
My reinstatement could be due to any of the aforementioned items (or any combination of such for that matter), but it would really grind my gears to find out that the only reason I got back on [after all that I'd done] was because of that letter. Not because of the information disclosed mind you, but because I had to pay postage to mail said letter, and hence, had to pay to use Facebook! No matter what the reason I was allowed back on the site, I still plan on leaving all the Facebook propaganda I’ve cultivated over the last few months up online. Just in case FB decided to pants me a 3rd time….
Although I would’ve loved to be in a position to sue Facebook for this absolute circus of ridiculousness, there may not be as much time as I think to rest on my laurels. Even though I have my account back, there’s no guarantee this won’t happen again; especially given that this time was the 2nd time this has happened. Not to mention the extreme dynamic that has now affected almost every relationship I’ve had/still have with all my friends on Facebook, courtesy of all the random synchronicity of personal issues that afflicted me around the same time of my Facebook ban. And don’t even get me started on the bad taste this whole event has left in my mouth. I have to force myself to use the site now, where it used to be I’d check it at least 4 times a day. Not to mention, stories like mine are becoming less and less of an isolated incident. People are getting blocked from Facebook for seemingly no reason, at the slightest provocation, everyday. You can’t possibly understand how soul-shattering it is to get ripped from your entire social network until it happens to you. It’s a fate I’d wish on no one. Regardless of where I go from here, I’ll never see Facebook the same way again.
Some will rally my story and tout my comeback. I’m no hero, turst me. I just got lucky, that’s all.
Others will say I’ve made far too big deal of this whole thing. That I should have enjoyed the freedom and taken the time to better connect w/my network in real life. But that in and of itself was the passion that fueled my drive. Because while many who frequent the site practically never leave unless absolutely necessary, I wasn’t one of them. I’ve always made efforts to enjoy the company of my network as often as possible, and this blow was all the more staggering given that my account was blocked right around the time I ended up relocating at least 9,000 miles (and in some cases quite over) away from my entire network. The way I see it, if there was ever a time I needed Facebook in my life, now was it. I’ve spent years building this network and the friends that came with it, there was no way in hell I was gonna roll over and give up on it.
Of course more of you will say I deserve all of this for changing my name, and to you I say, go complain about my name on your blog, I’ll be too busy telling people just why they call me D-2-da-A!

Interesting to read all this.
I have a pretty same problem. Facebook informs me, that someone opened my account (Me?!) from uknown place. So facebook needs check my access. First step is writing words, which it is offered, second step is filling your birthday´s date. BUT ! I have not my birthday date on facebook, because I think, that is not important information. So, I couldn´t write my b.date-it doesn´t work, and if I try to skin this step, it doesn´t work too. Any support nowhere online! What shall I do?!!!! I can´t delete my account, I can´t do nothing.
hi dark angle…my facebook account got disable, i dont know why?…can u describe me the method that how can i re enable it…?
I can give you nothing more than I already have; that’s all there is to it as far as I know.
what is the main e-mail for them so I can get my account back up?? This is really bad because I have family in Guatemala and my grandmother is 95 and she is going to die soon. She doesnt have much and I have all my family from Guatemala on my facebook.
Please send me the main e-mail for facebook.

PLEASE HELP… WHAT CAN I DO… I NEED MY FACEBOOK I HAVE ALL MY FAMILY IN FACEBOOK AND MY GRANDMA IS REALLY OLD AND SHE DOESNT HAVE MUCH….. I NEED TO STAY IN CONTACT WITH MY FAMILY.
Look, first off you need to relax. Your Facebook account will not affect how fast or slow your Grandma dies. I hope that process is painless for all sides. Secondly, I’ve given you all the tips that I’ve used. If anything I’ve presented has not worked for you, then I don’t know what else to tell you. I don’t know what else I could possibly offer; I really, really don’t. I’m sorry. I just don’t have anymore tips for you.
hi facebook 2day wen i got up then i tried to log in on my facebook it got disabled can i know why and plz facebook i want my disable facebook i had many friends on it and many pictures and i promise u that i will not bull anyone on facebook or from my friends but plz i want my account back
Well for starters, from your take, you haven't 'lost' your account, your access is just 'pending'. So I'd stop panicing so hard & be glad your account hasn't been completely erased.
2ndly, if you knew full well what you were doing was going to do this to your account, nothing I can tell you will be able to help you get your account back, because it wouldn't be an accident, and that's the only reason (having it happen by accident) I got mine back [twice] in the 1st place.
My best piece of advice for you is checking back with Facebook in a week or 2 and try to see if you've been unblocked…
Hi,
My account has been disabled for about 3 days. I used a FB application which automatically sends friend requests via e-mail tool to people which play the same game as me, for example Mafia Wars. I know. It was my fault but I got NO WARNING! The same day that my account was disabled, I sent an e-mail to the Facebook Group. They answered:
“…Facebook has policies to stop behavior that other users may find annoying or abusive. Facebook’s security systems determined that you were repeatedly using the same feature or engaging in the same behaviors in a short period of time. Because you continued this behavior after receiving multiple warnings, your account was disabled. Facebook cannot provide any specifics on the rate limits that are enforced.
Your account will remain disabled while your case is pending. Unfortunately, we do not have a specific date for when a final decision will be made regarding your account…”
The other day, I sent another one and they didn't reply…
How can I get my Facebook account back?
Thank you.
Alex.
My account was disabled 4 days ago. I never received any warning or any reason for disabling my account. If I were reported for any malicious acts, then it would be fair if they could specify the reasons.
I am really pissed off. Sent my follow up message just minutes ago. Hope they would reply soon.
Thank you for contacting me through my Youtube question to you. To everyone reading this i wanted to share my experience with fb failing to provide me an explanation of my “acct being disabled”..
I was a user for 2.5 yrs, had re-connected with 200 friends and facebook decided that I had violated a term or terms of the agreement signed when opening acct. I appealed, it took them about 3 weeks to respond to tell me they’re looking into it. Then about another 3-4 weeks later I received an email saying they reviewed my appeal and that the decision was final and that my acct. was permenantly disabled. Did not provide me any reason, just said final. So I then wrote an email explaning that I would be more than happy to correct any issue, that I would have appreciated A WARNING SO THAT I COULD HAVE CHANGED WHATER THEY WERE PISSED ABOUT, and more importantly be given an opportunity to prove my innocence and that maybe there was a mistake or that maybe someone hijacked my acct and did something malicous.
As of today I’m filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureu and continue to send them emails from my original email acct (which i’m sure are being fed into a junk file) and from various other email acct. that I have to simply prove a point and harrass them.
What bother’s me the most is that they are oblivious to their customers. If they did any research AT ALL, followed my activity on the site, read what I wrote to FREINDS and really looked at my activity they’ed see that I’m just an average user, logged in several times a day, had fb on my mobile and invited tons of people to join. What a freakin ignorant set of CSR they have dealing eith these appeals. No matter what happens, i will never look at fb ever the same, but i want my social network of friends on-line back that I built over the course of 2+yrs.
Good luck to everyone out there. You’re gonna need it.
If only all bloggers spent enough time to come up with content such as this. But then again that would be asking too much.
I'm happy you got your account back! I lost my account too and I really have no idea why. I've sent countless emails so far with no reply. Its been almost a month so hopefully I can get mine back too! There are so many people with the same problem, and I've heard of people getting their account back in a few days, weeks or months. So we will just have to see I guess….
Thanks for this. Mine was disabled today for no reason I can figure out. I'm a journalist and have lots of emails/calls into the PR people there. We'll see if this makes it take less or more than 2 1/2 months
