Day In Baltimore

by Dark Angel on February 13, 2010

I woke up today in the heart of Baltimore, Maryland and for the first time I can ever recall I did not hear one police siren. I got a chance to get out stretch my legs, run a few errands and live & breathe my city once more.

THEN I heard the police sirens.

I went to town, with pictures, pictures, and more pictures. I went to the uber giant Barnes & Noble to grab some research material, and had the best Resse’s Peanut Butter cookie a B&N Starbucks has to offer.

I asked earlier this week [Twitter/Facebook] what Otakon would be like if it were hosted during the winter/a storm like the one that just hit Baltimore. And after watching this weekend’s Auto Show process at the Baltimore Convention Center, I think It’d be the greatest thing ever. Cosplay snowball fight, anyone? How many winter photoshoots are there? Panels with hot coco? And that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

I went to buy groceries at the Superfesh down here; which is always an adventure in it’s own right. I recommend you go, if you’ve never been. Yes I’m recommending you go to a grocery store, this one’s special. It’s built like a maze, and only about the size of a medium apartment, but they’ve got a whole grocery store crammed in there. I talked to bums, I talked to tourists, and I got chased by a flock of pigeons. A very big flock of pigeons. I went to the library and met an old friend, and made a new one. I then had my butt handed to me in my 1st (and most impressive) match of giant chess. (Like, the chess with giant pieces.) I stopped by a lil shop downtown to ask this girl out and wound up buying a little travel charm because she wasn’t there. Which is great too, cause now I have a souvenir.

Oh, and for the time being, I’ve got a Brit for a roommate. His name is Joe.

All this, and before 5pm to boot. And as mundane as it all is, it’s a day like today that makes me happy to be alive, and I mean that in the most literal sense. No stress, no worries, no appointments. Just a totally sublime feeling of peace.

EDIT: I should’ve taken more pictures
